Things To See And Do

A great day out for walkers, cyclists, nature lovers. Set aside a whole day to explore Grizedale. There are cycling trails, mountain bike routes walking trails with sculptures to discover, trails for kids, a Go Ape adventure park, and much, much more. If you love the outdoors, don’t leave Grizedale Forest off your list of thigs to do.

Just a short 15 minute walk from Fairfield House is the top of Brantfell. You get a 360 degree view of the surrounding area with views to both ends of lake Windermere. If you find yourself with an hour or two to spare, this view is well worth the effort. Don’t forget your camera.

Enjoy a morning or afternoon travelling the lake under your own steam! There’s no better way to exercise, enjoy the fresh air and take in the spectacular views of the hills and shoreline. The boats are available to hire from the wooden huts to the right of Bowness promenade from the beginning of April to the end of October.

A newly created museum of internationally important boats including steam launches, sailing yachts and motor boats. There is a great lakeside café here with stunning views out over the lake. Weather permitting you can sit on the tables by the lake side.
